Improve Your Wellness by Understanding Calories
Drinking Calories

Many Americans eat a normal diet of proteins, vegetables, and fruits but still gain weight. The American diet is full of calories consumed through drinking. Think about your morning coffee. How many extra shots, cream, and syrup? It can add up to 400+ in just 12 ounces. Then add soda pop with lunch. There you have 350+ calories. Most people relax with a beer or wine after work. That can also pack on an extra 500 calories. By the end of the day you’ve drank over 1000 calories.
Empty Calories

Empty calories are calories we get from food that is not filling. Bread is the biggest empty calories filler. It takes up a bunch of space in your stomach and expands once it hits the acid. This is why you someone who has had too much to drink should eat bread. Bread will absorb it, sort of. Empty calories also leave you hungry within a short time. We’ll look at several options for meals with flavor and without the empty elements that leave you needing more.
Fatty Calories

Fatty calories are those normally added to already healthy foods. They include butter, mayonnaise, and creams. Anything that has a heavy, oily texture has fatty calories. They are normally high in calories for a small amount: one tablespoon of mayonnaise contains 90 calories. That’s because of the fat and oil it contains (although it sure contains goodness and flavor too). Fatty calories aren’t bad if you use them in moderation. It’s the same with oil and deep fried foods. Foods intake that extra oil, increasing the caloric amount.
